High Point - NJ - 1803 Ft

STATE: New Jersey
DESTINATION: High Point
ELEVATION: 1803 Ft
TRAIL: Paved walkway
DISTANCE: 0.15 Miles
ELEVATION GAIN: ~50 ft
HIKING TIME: 10 Minutes
SEASON: Late Winter
DATE: 3/12/2012
WEATHER: Clear, cool

MAP: (High Point)

DESCRIPTION:

The NJ High Point is simply called High Point and a tourist attraction marked by a giant obelisk. The High Point is located within High Point State park and typically requires an entrance fee. Luckily I arrived early enough in season to find the gates open and road drivable to the summit parking area. There is a large parking lot and the monument is a short hike away.

NOTES / COMMENTS:

From NJ Route 23 look for high Point State Park signs. There may be a minimal entry fee. Follow the park service road to the highpoint parking lot and the obelisk is a short walk from parking. If you're looking for isolation and solitude this is not the peak for you! The summit area offers panoramic views and there are great views to the East from the parking area.
